
CHAPTER HISTORY
Greenville (NC) Alumni Chapter
The Greenville (NC) Alumni Chapter was chartered on March 16, 1986.
Since that time, Brothers have remained steadfast in carrying forward the vision of the Founders and the 17 charter members.
The founding charter members include: Donald Atkinson, David Banks, David Barnhill, John Black, Leonardo Bowens, J.J. Brown, Durante Bynum, James Carrothers, Marcellus Chaison, Kelly Darden, Monty G. Frizzell, Cornell Herndon, Thomas V. Lee, Franklin McCorkle, Francis H. Mebane, Louis Randolph, and James Wynn.
In 1987, Billy Dawson affiliated with the chapter and nine other outstanding men were initiated. Those initiated include: Darryl Austin, Ernest Brooks, Cranford Davis, Leroy James, Bernard Jones, Melvin McLawhorn, Carl McKoy, and Reginald Scott.
Since its charter, the chapter has dedicated itself to mentoring young men, serving the community, and being a visible force for good in Pitt County and throughout Eastern North Carolina. Through initiatives such as Guide Right, Kappa League, scholarship, opportunities, and strategic community partnerships, Greenville NC Alumni remains committed to uplifting and empowering those we serve.
The Greenville NC Alumni Chapter has received the following awards:
2020, 2023, 2024, & 2025 Chapter of the Year Award by the Middle Eastern Province (Small)
2024 Jay Crosby Award by the Middle Eastern Province (Small) (Guide Right – Most Outstanding Alumni Guide Right Program)
2023 Bert V. Wadkins Awardee by the Middle Eastern Province (Guide Right – Most Outstanding Guide Advisor or Director)
2019 Leon W. Steward Awardee by the Middle Eastern Province (Guide Right – Most Outstanding Guide Right Student)
